"Nikiya is a unique talent and a true professional. I came to her timidly because of my desire to improve my singing technique. Previously, I had never allowed anyone to hear me sing before. I was too embarrassed. I didn't think I was any good. And I would never have asked for help. But one day I ran into Nikiya and learned of her profession. I also learned of her impressive academic background in the arts. When I told her of my secret ambitions she made me feel so comfortable that I actually sang in front of her! One of the many special things about Nikiya is that she has such a genuine spirit. When I felt most vulnerable, she accepted my artistic offering and thanked me for sharing it with her. In that one moment I felt absolutely wonderful. I felt like she understood me... understood my intentions. I began taking lessons with Nikiya and my assumptions were confirmed. She is an amazing coach. Our lessons started and ended in a timely manner. She took great care in getting to know me and which sounds inspire me. The techniques she taught me were simple yet excitingly effective. Each lesson was curtailed towards refining my personal strengths while fortifying my weaknesses. I noticed significant changes in myself after each visit.... not just with my voice... my self-esteem as well. Each time I was learning something new I was scared to really try and reveal myself to her. But she gave me confidence through her sincere commendations and a sweet disposition. She carved out of me a sound that has been trapped inside all of this time... A voice that I can be proud of... An instrument that I can now use to express my feelings and share of myself with others. I now volunteer with children. I use my voice to lift their spirits.
